Introduction
Issued at the 2008 Collectors’ Day, this has the most Scottish theme ever, including thistles and a Highland Mist mauve on the walls. The shop sells woollens, honey and shortbread and there is a sheep in the window!

 The ceramic is based on the Victorian High Street at Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire. A rounded window left is similar to the model’s.

Highland Clearances
Today there are still more sheep than people due to the mass emigration that started in the 1700s. The causes included British repression of the clans, especially after the Battle of Culloden, and eviction of crofters for sheep farming. Many Highlanders went to North America and Australasia - which have more descendents than Scotland itself! Travel and green tourism are now key industries that account for 10% of all Scottish jobs.

 Highland Clan Sutherland. Tartans were only linked to clans from the mid 1800s. Heritage groups adopt them too.

The Highlands are one of the most scenic areas in Europe. Below is Elgol with a view towards the Cuillin Hills, Isle of Skye. 
