St Giles Cafe

 The serene entrance to Trinity College dated 1555 is just off busy Broad Street where Oxfam, another of the three Oxford models, is sited.

Introduction
A romantic idea of golden buildings, dreaming spires, river punts and poetry lures tourists to Oxford and the oldest University in the English speaking world, with teaching from 1096. JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis taught there at the same time and have a combined city trail. The Inspector Morse trail visits colleges and more from this world-famous TV series.

 52 St Giles is Grade 2 listed. The upper windows and decorative moulding are in Art Nouveau style, 1890-1910. This cafe is much visited by students.

The Eagle & Child inn at 49 St Giles where the Inklings such as JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis met in the rear Rabbit Room from 1939-62. Tourists flock to take cellphone photos of memorabilia.
