Introduction
Based on 16 Goosegate in Nottingham, the Boots model retired in 2005. This Victorian version is on Boots bisques Hazle found in 2008. Unlike the original, it is all hand painted with no transfers. There are LP certificates but, like the first four Sainsbury’s, no LE number. The new colour is from Nos 18-20 next door. Jesse Boot had the cast-iron front right built in 1882.

The Market Bar has leased No 16 since 2001. As a listed building the frontage modelled by Hazle should be hidden under the new fascia. 

Boots History
Farm worker John Boot learnt herbalism from his father. In 1849 he opened at 6 Goosegate and got the doctors’ monopoly on dispensing removed. Son Jesse took over in 1877 and created the iconic High Street dispensing chemists, which now sell herbal remedies once more!
