Scouting Movement
Begun by Baden Powell in 1907 with a camp of 20 boys on Brownsea Island in Dorset. The emphasis was on practical outdoor pursuits and survival skills. Girl Guides began as a separate group in 1910. Today there are 38 million members in 216 countries. “B-P” hoped that a global fellowship and friendship would foster world peace.
